Toronto Blue Jays: Roy Halladay’s best moments in Toronto
10 Inning Shutout against the Detroit Tigers
It is hard enough to throw a shutout in an MLB game, let alone having a complete game shutout. Now imagine throwing a shutout over 10 innings without going over 100 pitches in the game!
On September 6, 2003 the Blue Jay and Tigers battled it out in what was a memorable pitching duel. Once again, the Tigers had to go up against Halladay at his best and he did not disappoint.
Over the 10 innings pitched, Halladay threw 99 pitches allowing three hits, one walk and striking out five. Countering for the Tigers was Nate Cornejo who threw nine innings of shutout ball allowing five hits, two walks and recorded just two strike outs.
The deadlock would be broken up by Bobby Kielty who had a two-out RBI hit off of Fernando Rodney. This was not the only time Halladay would go 10 innings with the Blue Jays.
In 2007, the Blue Jays and Tigers once again went the distance with Rodney once again losing it in the final inning for Detroit.
