NEWARK, NJ – NOVEMBER 12: Nicholas Baptiste /

Nicholas Baptiste – Right Wing

How much do you miss the scoring from Kyle Okposo? For the contract the Sabres are giving him, I surely miss it.

I’m not saying in any way that Baptiste is comparable to Okposo, but I can assure you that he might fare better than Zemgus Girgensons and Jordan Nolan.

Baptiste lit the OHL up with Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters in the 2014/15 season. Playing with both McDavid and Dylan Strome, Baptiste scored 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points.

Just because McDavid and Strome went away doesn’t mean that Baptiste has stopped contributing. In two seasons with the Amerks, the 22-year-old has amassed 38 goals and 31 assists for 69 points.

Plugging Baptiste in alongside Reinhart might just be the factor that gets both players and the Sabres going.
