We share five takeaways as the Buffalo Bills miss a golden opportunity to tie for first place in the AFC East, losing 34-21 to the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.

The Buffalo Bills marched into Week 9 to face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, as one of the hottest teams in the NFL.

Led by a defense that is generating the most turnovers in the league and a 5-2 record, the Bills were heavily favoured to roll through a New York Jets team that was considered lucky to even have three wins this early in the season.

But no one seemed to tell the Jets how the Thursday night match was supposed to go down.

The Buffalo Bills ran into a Jets teams looking to take the fight to them by running the ball hard and constantly rushing the passer.

It was a loss that should be a wake up call for the Bills, if they are to end the longest playoff drought currently in the NFL. (Editor’s note: And the longest in all four of the major sports leagues in North America.)
