2) Offence

The plan all game was to force the puck to Auston Matthews and William Nylander and make them skate through three or four defenders.

Matthews scored, and the Leafs got goals from Zach Hyman and Dominic Moore. Moore has seemingly scored in every game this season, or it seems that way.

Moore finds a way to get the puck in the net. He has been a successful pickup and he should be the fourth line centre every game.

Hyman scored on the doorstep by banging a loose puck in, again, good for him. He was good on the puck in this game.

Other than that, the only forwards I noticed were Nazem Kadri and Mitch Marner. James van Riemsdyk could still be injured from the incident in the Los Angeles game. Next game will be a better indicator of how healthy he is.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a chance to get back in the game on a power-play with 10 mins, but Kadri took a face-off violation minor on the draw to open the man advantage. A friend at the game and it’s the most incensed he’s ever been at a call in a hockey game, and honestly, after looking at the “violation” again, I agree. Complete crap from the zebra’s.
