Returnees

RFA Garret Sparks was resigned by the organization on July 1st to a two-year deal. It’ll be him along with Kasimir Kaskisuo who will man the Marlies’ net. The key for Sparks next season is health. There have been a lot of stretches where Sparks would miss games with injury, and the team will need him healthy if they plan to compete.

The only benefit of Sparks’ injury this season was that Marlies got to see what Kaskisuo could do. The 23-year-old played mostly in the ECHL, but was called up in the playoffs when Sparks couldn’t play. He made a lot of key saves for the Marlies and was a huge part of them winning their first round series.

Subtractions

Antoine Bibeau‘s time in the organization is over. There was a time where many believed that he could be the Leafs’ goalie of the future. Unfortunately, his very inconsistent level play had him play his last game weeks before the playoffs.

The Quebec-native has since signed a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks. Hopefully a change in scenery can cause a spark in his ability as a goaltender.
