Toronto Maple Leafs: Game of Thrones Crossover

Brendan Shanahan as Daenerys Targaryen
It was a happy day for Leafs fans when Shanahan was hired as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In three years, he turned a team that was hovering in mediocrity into a group of players and staff that can raise a championship one day.
Similar to Daenerys, Shananan started with nothing and had to bring in his own people that he could trust — forming his own army, if you will. The season six finale saw Daenerys heading to Westeros to claim her throne. After a year of success, Shanahan definitely plans to see the Leafs to bigger and better things next year and in the years to come. Perhaps a Stanley Cup?
Lou Lamoriello as Jaqen H’ghar
The Toronto Maple Leafs GM is many things. He’s a hall of fame GM, proven winner, and one of the worst interviews in the league. Lamoriello will give you absolutely nothing and has a knack of answering a question without answering the question.
Jaqen is a similar character that always seems to talk in riddles. He refers to everyone as either, “a boy”, or, “a girl” and will only name the Many-Face God. Between these two, a question will not be discussed at a certain time or, “finally a girl is no one”.
Mike Babcock as Tyrion Lannister
A head coach creates the system, arranges and adjusts the lines, and gives his team confidence to succeed. Babcock has arguably been the best Leafs’ head coach in years and the results speak for itself.
Tyrion has been the adviser for Daenerys for the past two seasons, but has also led men into battle before. Strategy is key when keeping tabs on your enemies in war, and that’s what both Babcock and Tyrion do.
Mark Hunter as Lord Varys
Information is one of the most important things to have. Varys has his birds that tell him gossip around the country, and Hunter has his scouts and his own eyes. If either of these two are gone from their respective casts, the success of the groups they’re affiliated with come to an end.
Because of Hunter, Leafs fans will be able to watch Marner, Travis Dermott, Jeremy Bracco, and Andrew Nielsen to name a few. Because of Varys, Cersi is screwed.
