Toronto Blue Jays: Josh Donaldson to the St. Louis Cardinals make sense for everyone
BRINGING THE RAIN TO ST. LOUIS
Although Donaldson has struggled since returning from the DL in May he would still be a much needed offensive boost for the Cards this season and next.
"“The Cards want to add an impact bat before Opening Day 2018 and can treat the Trade Deadline as an early opening of their offseason activity,” Morosi wrote. “Donaldson would stabilize the cleanup spot, where seven players have started for St. Louis this season.”"
Being four games under .500 it seems odd that St. Louis would be considered buyers especially for such a big piece. But the NL Central has been surprisingly weak this year, and the Cardinals finds themselves only 6.5 games out of first.
Adding a three-time Silver Slugger to the lineup, along with a return to health of Dexter Fowler and Kolton Wong, the Cardinals could very well kick start their dormant offence, for 2017 and 2018.
