The Toronto Maple Leafs weren’t the most active team on July 1st, but they made moves that triggered a social media swarm.

After the success of the Toronto Maple Leafs this year, fans were looking forward to the offseason in hopes of improvement. In particular, free agency. Three of the main offseason events have come and gone already:

The Leafs were in a similar position going into July 1st as they were in last year. The goal was to add depth to the lineup rather than go for the big fish. This year’s free agent class was definitely weaker than most years, but there were still names worth looking into. Keep in mind, the needs that many agreed needed to be addressed through free agency was the backup goalie and fourth line centre position.

Toronto made their signings and Leafs nation had something to say about each of them. Some of the signings were received well, while others not so much.
