Toronto Blue Jays hoping like father, like son with legacy prospects
Biggio spent the entirety of his career with the Houston Astros and was inducted into the Hall in 2015, his third year of eligibility.
Over his 20 year career the slick fielding second baseman won four Gold Gloves and compiled 3,060 hits. He was part of the Astros famous Killer Bees, along with Jeff Bagwell who was just inducted in 2017.
As well as being teammates in Houston, Clemens and Biggio both have had sons drafted by the Astros (Koby Clemens and Conor Biggio) and the Jays (Kasy and Cavan)
Though Houston never won a championship during his tenure, Biggio was a part of some prolific Astros teams deep into October.
Like his father Cavan is a second baseman. He is currently playing in the Florida State League for Dunedin.
He is not the can’t miss prospect his dad was (Craig was a first-round pick drafted 22nd overall in 1987) but Cavan could create his own legacy.
In a pre-season ranking Keegan Matheson had Biggio 25th in the Blue Jays farm system. Cavan is a solid defender and could be a stolen base threat with 15-20 SB potential.
Obviously his father set the bar extremely high, but the 22 year old Cavan could be a name to keep an eye on. In his first full professional season in Single-A he is batting .252/.347 OBP in 60 games.
