Toronto Maple Leafs: The centre problem
By Omar L
The Toronto Maple Leafs not only have a lack of right-handed defencemen in the system, but a lack of centremen as well, that will need to be addressed if they plan to match other teams in depth moving forward.
In the past I wrote about an important issue in the Toronto Maple Leafs‘ organization. That being the lack of right-handed defencemen.
Unfortunately, the shortage doesn’t stop there. The Leafs also have a lack of centremen.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, “What the heck are you talking about, have you seen the team!?” Yes, yes I have.
Auston Matthews is the number one centre Leafs fans have been dreaming of since Mats Sundin was traded, breaking rookie records and scoring glorious goals all year. Nazem Kadri had a career year this season, continuing to grow as a shutdown centre.
Long time Leaf Tyler Bozak also had a good season, finally reaching 50 points. Brian Boyle was a great addition for the Leafs at the deadline, but since he will most likely be asking for more money his return to the team is doubtful.
