Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada is looking ahead to the future and is hoping that his future is in a Blue Jays uniform.

Although the season is far from over yet, Marco Estrada is thinking about the future as he is a free agent at the end of the season. It’s not something he wants to focus too much on as his main focus should be helping the Toronto Blue Jays win games with his consistent starts as a pitcher. But it’s good to know that Estrada wants to remain with the club despite the Blue Jays slow start this season.

Obviously Estrada has the mindset that the Jays can get back on track, especially when the injured players return. Once players like Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki and Aaron Sanchez return it will be like a fresh start.

Estrada is a keeper

I think many people forget how skilled Estrada is and what he has done for the Jays in his time here. Mop-UP Duty analyzes his success as a Blue Jay.

"“Since being traded to Toronto, Estrada has been kicking ass. Estrada’s effectiveness lies, like most pitchers, in the pitch he uses to get hitters out (his “out pitch”). Marco’s weapon of choice is a change-up with an average velocity of approximately 77mph – a full 11 mph slower than his fastball. In fact, in 2015, Estrada led all pitchers in velocity differential between his fastball and change-up.”"

Estrada inevitably has been the best pitchers for the Toronto Blue Jays this year. He owns a 3.14 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP over 43 innings. Besides his pitching mechanics, Estrada just seems like the type of guy that is genuine on and off the field. He is definitely a fan favourite and it would be a heartbreak if the Jays traded him.

Estrada maintains nobility

Many people don’t know that when Estrada was traded to the Blue Jays, he didn’t exactly receive positive vibes. There was a lot of negative backlash placed on him. Instead of Estrada letting this get into his head he was smart about it. He took the negativity and used it to prove everybody wrong about him. He made sure to pitch to the best of his ability as a Blue Jay and the negativity was actually a booster for him.

It shows how he earned the respect as a Blue Jays pitcher and player. This shows what type of person Estrada is and this should be a prime reason to sign him. It shows his dedication and how he is a hard worker.

Estrada knows that his future as a Blue Jay isn’t set in stone, but he hopes for the best. He knows at the end of the day that baseball is a commodity and that it is nothing personal.
