2) Justin Smoak

Alright, let’s get the cat out of the bag. Nobody expected the start that infielder Justin Smoak has had so far.

No really, nobody did.

Surely most fans weren’t expecting much out of Smoak after a tough 2016 campaign, which left many questioning the team’s decision to sign him to an $8.3 million two-year extension with a 2019 team option worth $6 million. However, he’s turned heads in 2017 and has shown it at the plate.

Turns out, Smoak’s one of the Blue Jays’ best hitters so far this season. Before Monday’s game against the Yankees, he was hitting .273/.305/.506 with four home runs, 12 runs batted in, four doubles and a triple.

His sudden resurgence has turned heads among Blue Jays fans. After becoming a reliable hitter, fans on Twitter are already considering giving Smoak a vote for Miami.
