Buffalo Bills 2017 NFL Draft Class: Grading the Players
By Paul Taylor
Linebacker Tanner Vallejo (Round 6, 195th Overall)
Grade: B
Bio: Played at Boise State / 6 foot 1 / 228 pounds
Resume: Won MVP awards for MWC Championship game & Fiesta Bowl in 2014
Strengths: Good instincts to find the ball, strong in pass coverage, toughness shown by his ability to play through injuries, the consummate teammate, good speed and athleticism.
Weaknesses: Limited by injury in 2016, had surgery on broken wrist after the season, concerns about his durability, not a particularly strong player (although the Bills could work on this).
Overall: Some experts believe Vallejo could be a reach, given that his best play came during his sophomore year. However, it could be argued this shows the potential is there, especially since he has been compromised since by injury. Further, like Milano, he addresses the Bills’ pressing need at linebacker. Should make the 2017 roster, although not as a starter.
