The Toronto Raptors might not have acquired mercurial superstar DeMarcus Cousins, but here’s how his departure from the Sacramento Kings could have an impact on the Raptors.

The Sacramento Kings rocked the NBA world Sunday night when they traded DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans in a shocking and surprising deal. The Toronto Raptors were not involved in the stunning trade, but the deal could have an impact on the Raptors.

Clearly, Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and general manager Vlade Divac were trying to do their best Rob Babcock impression with this trade, although I still think trading Vince Carter away for nothing was a worse trade, and just like Babcock, they could have an impact on the Raptors’ future.

A lot of the impact from this trade is based on hypotheticals and potential “what if” scenarios, but the probability of these scenarios coming to fruition is likely, especially since players like Matt Barnes have already been released.
