2) Can Sebastian Giovinco win his second MLS MVP?

With the way last season ended for Sebastian Giovinco, you know he’s going to be supremely motivated in 2017. Being substituted in the final and then watching his team lose, was not in the script.

However, that won’t be the only thing pushing the “Atomic Ant” this year. There’s the not-so-small matter of being overlooked as an MVP candidate.

This is nothing against David Villa, Bradley Wright-Phillips or Sacha Kljestan, who all had excellent seasons. Regardless, there was no excuse to leave Giovinco off the shortlist for the MVP award.

Consider these facts – the Italian’s combined total of 32 goals and assists was tied for the fourth-most in MLS history. The trio mentioned above all played at least four more games, and yet only Wright-Phillips was close to Giovinco’s mark, with 29 combined goals and assists.

We could go on, but you get the picture – the oversight was a black eye for the league. The 30-year old will be in the running for his second MLS MVP award this season, as he looks to show everyone how special he truly is.
