Best Celebration

Chris Okrainetz: There’s been a few great celebrations this year, but I have to give it to Leo Komarov when he scored a power play goal against the Washington Capitals and he tapped Brooks Orpik on the shoulder and said “good job.”

Of course, Matthews sensational pass was the highlight of this play, but Komarov’s celey was a comical finish to this play.

Honourable Mentions: Matthews had a cheeky celebration after he scored his first goal during the Centennial Classic and fist bumped the bench with this wrist flip.

It wasn’t a goal celebration, but Matthews and Marner singing Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer while sitting next to each other on the bench was a memorable moment of this first half and deserves mentioning, too.

Dave Morassutti: Uncle Leo has to take the award here after he made sure Brooks Orpik knew that he got schooled by Matthews. Not many players have the nerve to do that, but if anyone would, it would be Komarov.

Jake Middleton: Connor Brown with the holstering his weapon celebration against the Capitals.

This one was fantastic. The Etobicoke native has been a star alongside Matthews and that goal was a beauty.

To go from being a seventh rounder to a top line winger alongside the franchise player, it was awesome to see Brownie having fun and pulling off the same celebration as Patrick Laine — but better.
