6) DeRozan Re-Signs

Throughout last season there was speculation that DeRozan would bolt Toronto and head home to Los Angeles to play for the Lakers. Well, that didn’t exactly happen. Instead, DeRozan declined to take a meeting with another team and would eventually agree to a five-year, $139 million deal with the Raptors.

After signing the deal DeRozan went into detail about how “he is Toronto” and that his desire is to stay with one team throughout his career. Since signing the new deal in July, Raptors fans have seen DeRozan’s game ascend to new levels. From his play with Team USA, to his scorching hot start to the season, Raptors fans have to be pleased with DeRozan.

Perhaps more importantly, though, DeRozan re-signing with Toronto might put an end to star players departing the city when they have the opportunity too. Although Vince Carter and Chris Bosh were facing a different set of circumstances, it was refreshing to see a star player willingly stay with the Raptors.
