6) Martins Dzierkals – LW Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL):

Arguably my favourite Leafs prospect in the entire system ever since he was drafted for his tenacity, work ethic, and, most importantly, his passport. From the “hockey hotbed” of Latvia, Dzierkals is currently starring for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL.

Dzierkals is an offensively gifted two way forward that can skate. I believe his ceiling is as a Michael Frolik type of player, but I think his future is as a shut down third line winger with some sand paper for the Leafs in the next couple of years.

As the captain for Latvia at the upcoming World Junior Championships in Toronto/Montreal, this will be the first opportunity for most Leafs fans to watch Dzierkals play live. It should be really interesting to see how he fairs against the best U-20 players in the world after leading Latvia to a promotion in this tournament last season.
