4) Adam Brooks – C Regina Pats (WHL):

An over-ager taken by the Leafs in the fourth round this past year, Brooks was a prototypical Mark Hunter pick. Although he is slightly undersized at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, what Brooks lacks in size, he more than makes up for with his skill.

After putting in a dominant season with the Regina Pats last year, Brooks has actually improved his insane point production to the tune of a PPG increase from 1.7 PPG to a gaudy 2.12 PPG. Brooks is incredibly effective at creating offense for not only himself, but also for his teammates, and his high hockey IQ should allow for him to be an NHL player.

Although he still has a lot to learn with the Marlies next year, if he continues to progress at his current rate there is no reason to believe he won’t be a top nine forward by the time the Leafs need an influx of young cheap forwards.
