Raptors vs. Wizards: 3 Stars of the Night
By Demar Grant
First Star of the Game: DeMar DeRozan
40 points, 5 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 11/16 FTM, 1 3-Pointer
A second 40-piece in four games makes DeRozan the first star of the game (again). He has the (rightfully deserved) reputation of being an inefficient mid ranger scorer, but he’s been bucking the trend. His mid range jumper has been absolute cash for the past 3 games and the latest is no different.
He shot a very efficient 14 of 23 and made 11 of his 16 free throws. Oddly, DeRozan didn’t really look for his post up that much this game seeing that Bradley Beal is several inches shorter than him. Although DeRozan dropped 40 he wasn’t selfish about it, as he chipped in five assists and had two steals to boot.
DeRozan is the only player in the league that’s still maintains this 90s style and he about to hit his prime, it’ll be interesting to see what he can do later on in the season.
Oh, and he hit his first three-pointer in this game too.
