Three Stars of the Week

No. 1: Brendan Leipsic

Leipsic has a lot to prove this season with the Marlies as he was someone who could have made the Leafs out of camp but the numbers game meant that he was going to be back with tin the AHL. Well it looks like he has not lost his scoring touch from last season with nine points in five games this season. He will likely be competing with Kapanen for the scoring lead in the AHL with Cole Schneider, Justin Dowling, Charles Hudon and Anthony Mantha likely to challenge them as well. For this reason he earns the first star of the week for his strong performance this past weekend.

Leipsic has a knack for scoring pretty goals and that was the case on Saturday when he scored this one.

No. 2: Antoine Bibeau

Going into this season Bibeau and Sparks were looking to overcome a tough end to last season. Bibeau struggled in the preseason but has bounced back nicely to start this season with the Marlies. He has won all three starts this season posting a 1.34 GAA and a .945 sv% including a shutout on Sunday against the Moose. This is an encouraging start for Bibeau who could see more starts in the near future if Sparks cannot bounce back from a tough game against Rochester.

No. 3: Byron Froese

After spending 56 games with the Leafs last season Froese is back with the Marlies to start the season and he got back to his scoring ways this weekend. He scored his first goal on Friday, then added two on Saturday an another on Sunday.

He is not the most talented player on the team but he is not afraid to go to the net and get his scoring chances from there. He will be counted on to help these young players throughout the season.

Next: Three Marlies to Watch this Season

While it may be tough to expect him to get back to what he did in 2014-15 when he scored 18 goals, 24 assists for 42 points in 46 games he could get close to that if he plays with this talented group of young players.
