Bibeau Earns the Shutout in 4-0 Win

This was a much better game for the Marlies as they only took two penalties all game and limited the Mosse to 22 shots on goal while putting 34 shots on Ondrej Pavelec. Kapanen scored in the first minute of the game to notch his seventh point on the season (three goals, four assists) in five games.

Froese continued to add to his goals total with his fourth goal of the season all coming the past three games. Leipsic overtook the AHL scoring lead with nine points (two goals, seven assists) after registering two assists and extending his scoring streak to five games.

The young players were the story in this game with Frederik Gauthier, Travis Dermott, Rinat Valiev, Kerby Rychel and Andrew Nielsen all recording a point. Bibeau earned the shutout to put himself tied with Jussi Rynnas and Ben Scrivens for the all-time franchise mark in shutouts with eight in his Marlies career. Rinat Valiev has quielty put together a strong stretch registering at least a point in his past four games. The Marlies have yet to lose at Ricoh Colisseum with a 4-0 record.

This is what coach Sheldon Keefe had to say after the game.

“I thought we skated a lot better, especially on our defence. Our gaps were a lot tighter, we created a lot of loose pucks that allowed us to play fast going the other way. It was more of a reflection of how we want to look. I thought we looked like that in the Rochester game on Friday night, we just didn’t get the result and today we got the result. That’s why coming off a game like yesterday, we get the win but weren’t really happy with how we played and today was more of an indication of what we are capable of and what we want to look it.”
