2) Bills’ strength versus the Dolphins’ achilles heel

Last week, we talked about how Tyrod Taylor and the passing game would have to step up sooner rather than later. At that point, they ranked last in the entire league, something which surely has to change if the Bills are to end the longest current playoff drought in the NFL. (They are now 31st.)

However, when you’re leading the NFL with nearly 170 yards per game on the ground, there’s little reason to change your approach. Unfortunately for the Bills, their running game could well be compromised in Miami, after the hamstring injury McCoy suffered in practice on Wednesday.

There have been several differing reports doing the rounds, with the latest one from The Associated Press indicating the four-time Pro Bowler will be a game-time decision on Sunday. If he does sit, Mike Gillislee will get the start and previously showed glimpses of his potential last season, averaging 5.7 yards on 47 carries.

Taylor still has to improve at some point, especially as opponents focus more on the Bills’ running game. However, we should anticipate a heavy dose of the ground game until someone stops them, especially against a Dolphins defense which ranks second-worst in the league versus the run.
