Watch: Mitch Marner Scores First Career NHL Goal
After coming close a few times against the Ottawa Senators, Mitch Marner found the back of the net on Saturday for his first career NHL goal.
After Auston Matthews scored four goals on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs other super rookie, Mitch Marner, joined the scoring party on Saturday night.
Connor Brown opened the scoring with his first career NHL goal early in the opening frame, and then Marner put the Leafs up 2-0 with this beauty wrist shot:
Nikita Zaitsev notched his first career NHL point on Marner’s goal, as he made a great play in the defensive zone to get the rush started. Tyler Bozak also picked up a point on the play when he made a great feed to set Marner up.
The goal not only sent the Air Canada Centre into a frenzy, though, it also sent the Hockey Night in Punjabi broadcast team into one too. Take a listen to their call of Marner’s goal:
You got to love the passion behind that call!

Funny side note with Marner’s goal. His Mom, Bonnie, missed the whole thing because she was in the bathroom. CBC’s Christine Simpson spoke with Paul and Bonnie Marner during the third period and the three of them had a good laugh about it all.
