8. Bullpen Tosses Five Shutout Innings

This is actually many moments, but the bullpen has been heavily criticized throughout September for blowing a few games and choking down the stretch. But when it counted the most, they came through.

Cecil got the first out in the top of the seventh. Joe Biagini then registered back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning. Grilli retired the side in the eighth and Osuna did the same in the ninth.

Osuna then registered the first out in the tenth and Liriano, who was a possible starter for this one, retired five in a row between the tenth and the eleventh innings.
