There were questions on if he should bunt and squeeze Saunders home? The Orioles were playing in and Saunders is not a strong runner, so maybe not, but Carrera squared for a bunt on his first pitch, however, the ball was up and away.
Carrera is a bunt for a single specialist so maybe the Jays would force the issue here. Also, why not bring in Dalton Pompey to pinch run for Saunders if they were going for the squeeze?
The Jays scratched the thought of a bunt and two pitches later he connected, hitting a single to centre scoring Saunders to tie the game. This is something he’s done before for the Jays and he showed up again when it meant the most. You can’t expect much more from the number nine hitter.
