2) O.J. Simpson: Single season rushing record (2,003)

His off the field controversies are well documented, but there is no denying Simpson‘s achievements whenever he put on a Bills uniform. Thomas may be the career franchise rushing record holder, but “the Juice” is the best running back in team history.

In that respect, the 1969 first overall draft pick still has Buffalo’s top three single-season rushing yard seasons. This includes becoming the first NFL player to pass the 2,000-yard mark.

Since then, five more NFL players have reached the milestone. However, what makes Simpson’s achievement more impressive, is that he did it in just 14 games.

Further, if you prorated the San Francisco, California native’s stats over the course of 16 games, he would have 2,289 yards, putting him easily ahead of Eric Dickerson‘s record total. Regardless, it was an impressive accomplishment.

Overall, we feel extremely comfortable in ranking Simpson’s record as the second-least likely mark to ever be broken. Consider that the highest rushing total achieved by any other Bills runner was 1,487 yards by Thomas, and that was back in 1992.
