Toronto Blue Jays: Picking the Optimal Batting Order

8. Kevin Pillar

Superman is similar to Martin, in that they seem to come up big when we need them the most.

Pillar hits for a respectable .264 batting average and has 32 doubles on the season. He also has two triples and seven home runs. He could easily be hitting second for many teams.

So although his average is a bit low, he makes up for it with some power and the occasional home run. Having a guy like him on the eight slot is actually well above average when comparing him to other eight slot hitters.

Pillar has pretty good speed too, so he’s great down there to start turning over the lineup.
