Toronto Blue Jays: Picking the Optimal Batting Order

The Toronto Blue Jays are still fiddling with the lineup on a nightly basis when, at this point of the campaign, there should be a well-known, expected batting order.

This season, the Toronto Blue Jays have frequently shuffled the batting order in an attempt to get the offence going, especially when it hits a lull. While I am all for making adjustments, it seems as if John Gibbons is picking names out of a hat at times.

While I could criticize the batting order on most nights — like on September 12th when Michael Saunders was hitting at the two slot while Jose Bautista was batting clean up — I’d rather just dish out what I believe is the optimal batting order. To Gibbons’ credit, Bautista did hit a two-run shot that brought home Devon Travis, but, hey, he might have done the same hitting in the two slot.

The postseason is upon us and the Jays are still fiddling with the batting order on a nightly basis. There should be an expected batting order at this point of the season.
