Buffalo Bills: 3 Things to Watch for Versus New York Jets

2) Blitz Pickup
The blocking as a whole wasn’t great for the Bills in Week 1, and although the team did attempt to address the issue this week by re-signing fullback Jerome Felton, one area that needs to improve is blitz pickup.
Thanks to YardsPerPass on Twitter, you can see a few examples where running back LeSean McCoy struggled to pickup blitzes.
After a delay of game & 9 yrd pass to Woods, it's 3rd & 6. Pass pro fails again & that's game. O never get ball back pic.twitter.com/IZIKAxksp0

On the play above, McCoy was not only leaning in his stance before the snap, but he whiffed on his block. Here’s another example where McCoy struggled in pass protection, but Taylor bailed him out with a magnificent play.
EZ look at the TT play... you'd like to see better blitz pickup here, but man those spins are amazing, what agility pic.twitter.com/sTtfBZm2lZ

And here’s one final example where on a quarterback sweep, typical power football play, McCoy whiffs and the cornerback tackles Taylor to prevent the Bills from converting on a third-and-two.
This one was killer... 3rd and 2 from the 47, still a 10-7 game. Ravens CB Wright again makes a play pic.twitter.com/LLEYHxcUh8

McCoy might not be an elite pass blocker, but he is better than what he showed on Sunday. With the Jets’ dominant defensive line, and Todd Bowles not afraid to dial up blitzes, the Bills’ blitz pickup will be an interesting aspect of the game to keep an eye on.
