Buffalo Bills: Pros and Cons of LeSean McCoy’s Backups
By Paul Taylor
Mike Gillislee
Vital stats: Drafted in the fifth round in 2013 / 25-years old / 5 ft 11 / 219 lbs
Career highlights: Four-star recruit in 2009, 2012 First-team All-SEC selection, In 2012, became first Gator to eclipse 1,000 yard mark since 2004
Pros: Only a small sample size, but appears to be an excellent home-run threat. Last season he became the first Bills running back since 1997, to produce TD runs of at least 50 yards in back-to-back weeks.
Cons: As per the aforementioned sample size, Gillislee doesn’t have much of a track record. At this stage, there is no way of knowing how he will react to the responsibility of more carries.
Overall: With Karlos Williams missing the first four games of the regular season, Gillislee enters camp as the favorite to be the Bills number two runner in Week 1 at Baltimore. Signing Bush hasn’t changed this.
Next: A lot to prove after a disastrous offseason
