What do they do with their other first round pick?

Last summer at the draft, the Leafs had two first round picks and it was expected they would most likely trade one of the pick in order to trade up or down for a particular player. They ended up moving the 24th pick to the Philadelphia Flyers, in exchange for the 29th and 61st selections.

Toronto then sent the 29th pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets, for the 34th and 68th selections. Could they do a similar thing with this year’s 30th pick?

With all the picks the Leafs have in the draft, it could be possible they try to move up. Also, if a team without a first round pick wants to target a particular player, then Toronto could trade down again.

There are people wondering if the Leafs are interested in trading up to select Alex Nylander, William’s younger brother. He had a great season in the OHL and at the World Juniors with Sweden.

The Leafs could also try trading up, in order to select a defenceman like Olli Juolevi, Charles McAvoy, Jake Bean, or Logan Stanley. Bean or Stanley would be great options as they will not go until mid first round, unlike Juolevi or McAvoy who will already be drafted.

Considering the surplus in draft picks the Leafs have, it would be an interesting scenario to see them trade up. There could also be a case where they move the pick to acquire a goalie like Andersen.
