Valanciunas

(All stats as of March 19)

Career: PTS – 11.2 / FG % – .557 / FT% – .776 / PTS per 36 – 15.4

This season: PTS – 12.7 / FG% – .574 / FT% – .768 / PTS per 36 – 17.7

Biyombo

Career: PTS – 4.6 / FG % – .506 / FT% – .558 / PTS per 36 – 7.8

This season: PTS – 5.5 / FG% – .542 / FT% – .643 / PTS per 36 – 8.8

The fact of the matter is, the stats confirm what we all know. Valanciunas is easily the better scorer.

The former fifth overall draft pick has seen his scoring average improve every year, since entering the league. This season has been his best yet, ironically despite seeing a decrease in his average minutes played, compared to the previous two campaigns.

Further evidence of Valanciunas’ improved offensive game came before his recent hand contusion. The injury ended his career-best run of double-digit scoring in 17 consecutive games.

As for Biyombo, he recently had 16 points, in the game against the Pacers. However, as his career-high, that is the exception rather than the rule.

At the end of the day, no one will ever mistake the former Sacramento Kings seventh overall draft pick for a consistent offensive threat. Whether it’s literally or figuratively speaking, Valanciunas is twice the scorer.
