2) Frank Corrado

Contract status: One-year $632,500 contract & set to become a RFA this summer

Drafted: 150th overall (fifth round) in 2011, by the Vancouver Canucks

NHL career stats: 52 games / 2 goals & 4 assists / -20 / 14:01 average ice time

This season with the Leafs: 24 games / 4 assists) / -10 / 13:35 average ice time

Strengths: Corrado has outstanding puck-movement and offensive skills, meaning he has the potential to run the power play.

Weaknesses: Needs to continue working on his defensive-zone coverage, as well as his general play, to help maximize his production in the NHL.

What he offers Toronto: Some hockey analysts believed the Canucks were reckless to put Corrado on waivers last October, with the Leafs duly taking advantage. Babcock likes him, but the 22-year old acknowledges the remainder of this campaign represents an audition for next season. Long-term, he is a solid defenceman with some upside.

Notes: Born in Toronto and admitted it was a dream come true to play for his hometown team.
