Has Expressed his Desire to Stay in Toronto

It is no secret that Reimer’s time with the Leafs has had its ups and downs. Regardless, he has expressed his desire to stay through the rebuild.

Free agency could potentially provide Remer with a good opportunity to get a hefty pay raise. However, reporter James Mirtle writes that this might not be the case: “The risk for Reimer is that there aren’t many buyers in free agency, and the long-term offers don’t materialize on July 1”.

Reimer also spoke about his desire to stay in Toronto when he appeared with Brady and Walker on Sportsnet radio last month:

The one concerning thing Reimer said in the interview was the free agency is a strange thing, where players can get vastly overpaid. However, with the new regime under Brendan Shanahan, it would be tough for the goalie to walk away, especially if he feels like he has a chance to be a part of something special in Toronto.

Really, it comes down to management’s desire to keep Reimer in the fold. Theoretically, it should not be difficult to get a deal done if there is mutual interest.
