Buffalo Bills: Top 10 Super Bowls of All Time
By Paul Taylor
3) Super Bowl XLIII
The Arizona Cardinals entered the game looking to win their first NFL championship since 1947. They had long been perceived as losers, and not much was expected from a team which went 9-7 during the regular season.
However, they got hot during the playoffs with three wins, to set them up in the big game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was helped in large part due to the combination of the rejuvenated Warner and Larry Fitzgerald.
What followed was an absorbing clash, with the game’s biggest play coming right before halftime and the Steelers leading 10-7. The Cardinals were at the one-yard line looking to go ahead, when Warner was picked off by James Harrison, who returned the ball 100 yards for the score.
Rather than demoralize them, this only served to refocus Arizona, who came back to take a 23-20 lead on Fitzgerald’s 64-yard reception with just over two minutes remaining. However, Ben Roethlisberger had the final word, driving Pittsburgh 78 yards before throwing the winning score to Santonio Holmes, who made a spectacular tip-toe catch in the end zone.
