Buffalo Bills: Top 10 Super Bowls of All Time
By Paul Taylor
8) Super Bowl XXXVIII
Not many people expected a classic, with the New England Patriots set as seven-point favorites entering the game. However, that was exactly what we got, as the Carolina Panthers more than held their own.
In some respects, this was a bizarre game, with no scoring in the first and third quarters. In fact, there was no scoring for the first 26:55 minutes of the first half (a Super Bowl record), before the two teams exploded for a combined 24 points leading into halftime.
In may seem strange to put Jake Delhomme in the same sentence as Tom Brady, but for one game at least, he matched the future legend. Both quarterbacks threw for 300 yards and three touchdown scores.
Ultimately, Brady went on to claim his second Super Bowl MVP award. However, it all could have been so different if John Kasay hadn’t kicked the ensuing kickoff out of bounds, after Carolina tied the game at 29-29 with just 1:08 remaining.
