Shooting Guard – Demar DeRozan

Career numbers with Toronto:  17.6 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.5 APG, .441 FG%

Best All-Star Performance: 2014 – 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in 15 minutes.

He’s not particularly flashy with his play and he spends more of his time at the foul line taking shots than he does at the baseline crowning taller defenders, but DeMar DeRozan’s numbers don’t lie.

The one-time All Star has been a steady progression of good to better over the course of his six seasons here in Toronto, and as the longest serving Raptor on this current roster, he has earned everything that has been given to him.

Each year he has steadily increased his free-throw line appearances and field goal percentage, and much like Carter before him, he still needs work on his three-point shot.

What put Carter over the top was his ability to knock down three’s when he needed to, something DeRozan will still need to accomplish at some point in his career.

You can argue that given his ability to get to the rim, and the shooting prowess of the players around him, he may never have to while in Toronto.

He also continues to show that, when healthy, both he and Kyle Lowry have become one of the most devastating backcourts in the league.

No matter what the case, DeRozan has done such a good job in his first six years in the league, the probability of him getting a max deal wherever he lands next season is almost a certainty.

He may not be a household name in the NBA just yet, but DeRozan is certainly the best shooting guard this franchise has seen.
