Toronto Raptors All-Time All-Star Starting Five
By Ryan Greco
Small Forward – Vince Carter
Career numbers in Toronto: 23.8 PPG, 3.9 APG, 5.3 RPG, .447 FG%
Best All-Star Performance: 2001 – 16 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds in 24 minutes
Bosh may have the all-time points, but Vince Carter’s PPG totals in his time with Toronto puts the power forward at a distant second.
Carter was an anomaly – at one point back in the early 2000’s you could have argued he was better than Kobe Bryant.
He was Blake Griffin long before Blake Griffin, in the sense that his games were must-see television, or you would be forced to watch the highlights the next morning of whichever poor soul he posterized.
Although lacking in Bryant’s shot, Carter made enough of them, and if it wasn’t working, well, I think all Raptors fans know why they called him “Air Canada”.
He was literally one of the top three most popular players in the NBA during most of his time in Toronto – seven seasons to be exact.
He is literally the only player this team has ever produced that was bigger than the franchise, and in a superstar driven league, that is what gives you notoriety.
Since Vince left over 12 years ago, other players have come and led this team to the playoffs and division titles, have won the dunk competition, have beaten nearly all of his all-time records and a few single season ones to boot. However, none of them have even come close to eclipsing the star power he wielded during his time here.
Since we are talking about All-Stars in this article, none shone brighter than Half-man/Half-amazing.
