How Active Will They Be at the Trade Deadline?

Last season the Leafs were fairly active at the trade deadline moving pending UFAs for draft picks and prospects and that should be the case at the deadline this season. This is the list of players that will not only be UFAs this offseason but also trade candidates at the deadline.

Michael Grabner, Shawn Matthias, PA Parenteau, Brad Boyes, and Roman Polak. Out of those players Grabner, Parenteau and Polak have the highest value based on their play this season. Will they fetch a first-round pick, probably not. But maybe if the Leafs can put a package together with these players then maybe they can get a first rounder from a team that is a couple of pieces away from being a contender.

There is also the debate on whether Komarov will be traded. But how about other players under contract after this season? Has Tyler Bozak‘s value risen with his improved play? Is Jake Gardiner still a key part of the defence? Is it time to cut bait with Nazem Kadri?

Only the trade deadline will have the answers to these questions.
