Poor Drake has too many jobs that he sometimes forgets he’s still technically a part of the Raptors Organization. In the middle of his sold-out OVOFest concert, everyone’s favourite Global Ambassador took a couple seconds to shout out the second best player in the NBA. “You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us,” Drake said. “I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen.”
It turned out that innocent shout out was seen as “tampering” (according to the NBA at least) and ended up costing the Raptors a cool $25,000. Poor Drake found out that Adam Silver and the NBA office goes from 0 to 100 REAL QUICK.
Side note: the NBA offered to drop the fine if the Raptors fired Drake. The Raptors (making yet another solid move in 2014) declined the offer.
