During a pep rally prior to Game 1 of last year’s 1st round series against the Nets, the usually calm and collected Raptors GM let his emotions get the better of him. Obviously hyped up about the team’s first playoff series in six years, Ujiri provided the fans at

Maple Leaf

RAPTORS Square with the ultimate closing statement: “F— BROOKLYN!” To no one’s surprise, Ujiri was fined $25,000 by the NBA.

Whether or not Ujiri planned it, his “F— BROOKLYN!” proclamation became a rallying cry of sorts for Raptors fans everywhere as it was put on memes, t-shirts, sweaters, etc. Coming from a lifelong Raptors fan, every cent of the fine and all the stuff associated with the “F— BROOKLYN!” statement was definitely well worth it. It’s pretty cool to see the team’s GM get excited and interact with the fans as much as Masai has. When’s the last time anyone heard Rob Babcock do anything like that?!
