There is no excuse for a professional hockey team that has some decent players to allow nine goals in a single game. I would expect a team like the Sabres or the Edmonton Oilers to do that, but a team like the Leafs should not.

This game has been analyzed and beaten to death, so I will not make you relive that terrible effort from the Leafs. All I will say is that Toronto were caught making the same terrible mistakes they have made all season, but this time the goaltending could not bail them out. When a team lacks the discipline to correct the mistakes that they constantly make, then how do you expect to improve? Morgan Rielly and Jake Gardiner are at the point in their careers where they need to a strong veteran presence to set an example and make sure they avoid bad habits. That is why the Leafs brought in Stephane Robidas, but he has been busy trying to get back on track after recovering from two broken legs last season.

Steve Dangle, the famous Leafs YouTube blogger had his highest ever viewed video after the Leafs loss to Nashville and he basically summed up the emotions of every Leafs fan that night.
