Even though the Raptors were swept in three by the New York Knicks, their first ever playoff appearance marked a historic feat for the franchise.
The teams fusion of youth and veterans helped propel the Raptors to the playoffs, as savvy veterans like Charles Oakley helped mentor young up-and-comers like Vince Carter.
The first home playoff game was electric. The crowd was deafening with the noise clappers, chants of “let’s go Raptors” and boo’s on any questionable foul call made. Being present for that game, it was an indescribable atmosphere.
Unfortunately, Larry Johnson‘s three-point dagger from the top of the arc ended the Raptors chances of a playoff victory. It was a heartbreaking moment.
Although the Raptors were swept, the invaluable experience helped the Raptors growth in future years.
