Toronto Blue Jays: Marcus Stroman Changes Jersey to Number 6
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has announced that he will wear the #6 jersey as a Blue Jay in 2015. Stroman loves to keep up with his fans on social media and hinted at the idea that the change may be coming back on Wednesday.
Deciding I might ask to wear a new number next year. Something that has meaning for my family and I! #whatwillitbe

It didn’t take long for Stroman to make the change official, and of course he picked a number that will suit him quite well during his career in Toronto.
It's official. Jersey number change. Grandma's birthday! March 6th, 1943. 6 it is! Wearing #6 in the 6! #TORONTO

If you follow Marcus Stroman and his journey as a big-leaguer on Twitter or Instagram, you can see that this number change reflects his character. The 23-year old comes off as being very family oriented. He makes it clear that he will never forget where he came from and who helped him reach the major leagues. Selecting the #6 to represent his grandma’s birthday is a classy move from a classy guy. And that’s not all that his selection represents.

Stroman has fallen in love with the city of Toronto, which has also been known as the “6”. It comes from Toronto’s area code, the 416. Jays fans have a right to be excited about this kid. Not only did he put up a 3.65 ERA and 11 wins as a rookie, but he loves playing north of the border. Stroman gives off the vibe that he is not just playing for Toronto, but for Blue Jays fans across Canada. Cue Marcus Stroman and his passion for this city:
Back in the 6. Feels great to be in this city! #TORONTO

As Marcus Stroman changes his jersey from #54 to #6, hopefully his poise and his performance will remain the same. It is what helped make him a favourite among fans and around the clubhouse. Teammate Dalton Pompey was quick to poke fun at this buddy Stroman’s jersey swap.
I can’t remember a time when the Blue Jays have been so involved with fans off the field. Young starting pitchers Marcus Stroman (@MStrooo6) and Aaron Sanchez (@A_Sanch21), whose jersey numbers will combine to make “416” next season, are two guys you should definitely check out on Twitter, if you haven’t already.
Is it time for the 2015 season yet? Stroman and I can hardly wait.
