As Rex Ryan prepares for his second season in charge of the Buffalo Bills, we count down the top five head coaches in franchise history.

To many, the Buffalo Bills are best known for losing four consecutive Super Bowls and having the longest current playoff drought in the NFL. However, this doesn’t take away from the fact they have enjoyed a fair amount of success, since being established in 1960.

Of course, as with any professional sports franchise, they’ve experienced the range of emotions. They’ve includes everything from being the worst team in the league, to winning championships.

Throughout it all, Buffalo has seen 17 head coaches come and go, with Rex Ryan currently in possession of the sometimes poisoned chalice. It remains to be seen how his tenure turns out, but it’s safe to say he’s not on course to go down as one of the top head coaches in franchise history at this juncture.

Talking of which, as Ryan prepares for his second season in Western New York, we decided to look at everyone who has ever coached the Bills, dating back to their inaugural season in 1960. The result is our countdown of the top five head coaches in franchise history.
