With the Toronto Maple Leafs preparing to kick off their Centennial season, we take a look at the top five general managers in franchise history.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a franchise with a well-documented history. It is a past with many respected traditions including; Stanley Cup victories, Hall of Fame players, executives and one of the most passionate fanbases.

In honour of the Centennial Anniversary of the team, in the coming months we will be ranking the best players, coaches and executives in the Leafs 100 years of existence. The first part of this series will look at the top five general managers of all time, considering their contributions to the success of the franchise in a particular era.

Some won numerous Stanley Cups, while others could have easily done so with the rosters they put together. Understandably, Lou Lamoriello does not make the cut, but if the Leafs can finally end their Stanley Cup drought while he is in charge, he will get his moment in the spotlight.
