With 2016 in the rear-view mirror we decided to take a look back at the top 10 Toronto Raptors’ moments of 2016.

On top of 2016 being their most successful season in franchise history, the Toronto Raptors 2016 campaign was arguably their most memorable one ever, too.

From their 56 regular season wins, to hosting NBA All-Star Weekend, to reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, the Raptors experienced an overwhelming amount of success and made 2016 a sublime year for their fan base.

Just think about how far this franchise came last year. I remember sitting in the Sprite Zone for the Raptors first ever home playoff game against the New York Knicks in 2000 when Larry Johnson banked a dagger three off the glass to ensure the Knicks would sweep the Raptors. I was a heartbroken kid at the time and swore the Raptors had all the pieces to win the East, well at least they did in my NBA Live franchise mode (this was when NBA2K was only on the DreamCast).

You’re probably wondering what the point of that 2000 Raptors anecdote was. Well, the Raptors first ever playoff appearance was in 2000, while their first ever Eastern Conference Finals appearance was in 2016. That’s a 16-year gap between making the playoffs and actually coming close to reaching the NBA Finals. In a long-winded way, I’m trying to say cherish the kind of season we just witnessed in 2016 because those type of years don’t always happen.
