It has been an eye-opening season so far for the Toronto Maple Leafs. We recap storylines from the first quarter of the season and how they should play out as the year moves along.

Going into the season the Toronto Maple Leafs were going to give their young players as many opportunities to be the focal point of the team and they have been. Those players have come as advertised and as many have said, it has brought hope towards the future. This is how the team and players have stacked up this year.

It should not come as a surprise that James van Riemsdyk leads the team in scoring as he was the team’s leading goal scorer last season before getting injured in January. There have been many storylines to follow this season with over a quarter of the games in the books. Here are five to continue to watch as the season progresses.
