Many players will look to make a statement as the Toronto Maple Leafs get first peak of young future

As the summer draws to a close, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens will come together for their annual rookie tournament. In years past it gave the NHL clubs an opportunity to assess their prospect pool before training camp, while giving the fans an opportunity to see what the future holds for their team.

This year the Leafs have many young names to keep an eye on – some more obvious then others – but with the new directions under Brendan Shanahan, it will be important to see which players can shine in the big moment and prove they belong with the Leafs. Toronto announced their team last month, with many familiar names on the list.
